Dennis Sheppard continues the introductory series on the BSWA Care Group's Buddhist Care Line, a confidential telephone listening service staffed by lay Buddhist practitioners. The service offers a safe space to talk about any issues that may be happening in your life without fear of judgement. We invite you to visit the Buddhist Care Line's website for our hours of operation and phone number: https://bswa.org/buddhist-care-line/
In this video, Dennis goes into detail on the practice of effective listening. Listening is a skill that can be either intellectual and brain focused, or heart based and emotional. They all come together in our humanity when we are present in the moment, listening from a place of still consciousness. Thank you for this guided meditation... It is the first practice that has actually helped me. I have and still suffer with severe chronic depression, PTSD, and very severe anxiety illness. Have tried many different techniques of meditation and just haven't felt any benefit. This has helped me greatly... And yet it was so simple. I find it extremely difficult to still my hyperactive mind... Relentless, intrusive thoughts and the emotions that accompany them.
